Order stock for a plan

Enhanced plan

A plan tells you how much you expect to need. This guide shows how to turn that into orders. Each plan type orders differently: an inventory commitment can create a purchase order, a transfer order or a Shopify draft order; a launch plan creates a purchase order; a sales plan orders nothing itself and works through the forecast.

  • Your shop is on the Elevate plan for a commitment, or on the Enhanced or Elevate plan for a launch plan.
  • The plan has items or products.
  • For purchase orders from a commitment: your products are connected to their suppliers. See Connect suppliers to variants.

Inventory commitmentPurchase orders (one draft per primary supplier), a transfer order, and a Shopify draft order for the plan’s recipient (Create sales order).Planned quantity or Probability-weighted, your choice each time.Ordering from a commitment
Launch planPurchase orders only: one per launch location, or one combined. No split by supplier; you set the supplier on the draft. The plan’s demand over a coverage window, from each product’s launch date, or from today for a reorder (then minus the stock on hand and on order).Ordering for a launch

Orders are always created as drafts. You check them and send them like any other order. Creating an order never changes the plan’s status, and changing the plan’s status later never changes the orders.

  1. Open the commitment and click Actions › Create purchase order. It works in every status of the commitment.

  2. Pick the Destination location the stock should go to. It starts at the location most of the items are planned at.

  3. Under Order quantity, choose Planned quantity (every item’s estimated quantity) or Probability-weighted (the estimated quantity times the probability, the plan’s expected quantity). The line underneath says how many items will be included.

  4. Click Create purchase order. Logistified creates one draft PO per supplier, named after the plan and the supplier, and opens the first one. Items without a supplier are left out, and the message says how many.

  5. Check each draft and send it. To find them again, open the commitment: the Linked purchase orders bar on the Items tab links each one by its number, and Actions lists a View purchase order entry for each.

A sales order for a commitment’s customer

Section titled “A sales order for a commitment’s customer”
  1. If you want the draft order addressed to the customer, give the commitment a recipient first: Edit details, section Recipient (optional). Without one, the draft order is created unaddressed.

  2. Click Actions › Create sales order. The dialog shows the recipient. Choose the Order quantity.

  3. Click Create sales order. Logistified creates a Shopify draft order for the recipient with the plan’s items and opens it in your Shopify admin in a new tab. Virtual materials are left off, because they aren’t in Shopify; the dialog says so before you create the order.

  4. Finish the draft order in Shopify.

A transfer order works the same way: Actions › Create transfer order, pick the From location and To location, choose the order quantity, and click Create transfer order. A commitment has one transfer order and one sales order; once created, the menu offers View transfer order and View sales order instead.

  1. Open the launch plan (Draft, Confirmed or Locked) and click Actions › Create purchase order. Save or discard any changes on the Plan tab first.

  2. Set Coverage window (days): how many days the order should cover. The default is 60. Cover from sets where the window starts: Launch (each product’s launch date) for the launch order, or Today for a reorder once the product is selling. It starts on Today once any product of the plan has launched.

  3. Choose One PO per location or One combined PO, and tick At least 1 per size if the plan has size groups and every size should be in stock.

  4. Check What will be created and click Create draft PO (with several POs, for example Create 2 draft POs). A message confirms it; Open PO takes you there.

  5. On each draft PO, set the supplier, then send it.

The quantity is the plan’s demand over the window. With Cover from on Launch, stock you already have isn’t subtracted, so lower the lines on the draft if some of it is already in stock. With Today, each line takes off the stock on hand and on order at its location. To order again later, use Actions › Create another purchase order.

A sales plan is a goal, not demand. It never changes the forecast and has no order actions. To make sure stock covers its targets:

  1. Confirm the sales plan. Its targets show in the forecast only while it is Confirmed or Locked.

  2. Open a forecast view with the plan’s products and switch it to Supply. In the Supply menu, check that Show sales plans is on. The Sales plans chart shows, period by period, whether the forecast, and the stock you’ll have, keep up with the plan’s targets. See Supply view.

  3. Where the forecast falls short of the target, or stock can’t serve it (⚠ stock), decide whether to order more than the reorder suggestion.

  4. Create the purchase order from the forecast: tick the products and choose Actions › Create PO in the toolbar, click a period’s header and choose Create POs for N variants in its card, or click a variant’s cell and choose Create PO in its card. See Create a PO from the forecast and Acting from the card.

A retailer tells you they’ll order 500 backpacks in March, and you think it’s 80% likely. Your commitment has the backpacks at an estimated quantity of 500 with probability 80%. You create purchase orders with Probability-weighted: Logistified creates one draft PO for 400 backpacks with your backpack supplier, named after the plan and the supplier. When the retailer confirms, you add a sales order for them from the same commitment.

In the same season you launch a new backpack in two stores. Its launch plan creates one draft PO per store for its first 60 days; you set the supplier on both drafts and send them.
