Run a stock take

Before you start

  • A location to count at.
  • Access to a barcode scanner or a printed sheet of SKUs.

Steps

Section titled “Steps”
  1. Inventory → Stock takes → “New stock take.”
  2. Pick location, reason, expected date.
  3. Add variants — manually, by file upload, or by scanning.
  4. Count and enter quantities.
  5. Review discrepancies.
  6. Click Complete. Shopify on-hand updates.

Worked example

Counting the back office. 50 variants, discrepancies in 5, total value change −€340. After completing, Shopify shows the corrected on-hand for all 50.
